Shell and plate heat exchangers are heat exchangers with plate and tube as heat transfer elements. It mainly consists of two parts: tube bundle and shell. The contact points of cold-formed pairs of strips are welded tightly together to form a sheet tube with multiple flat runners. Many plates and tubes of equal width are arranged successively. In order to keep the spacing between sheets and tubes, metal strips are inserted on both sides of adjacent sheets and tubes and welded together with sheets and tubes. Tube sheets are formed at both ends of sheets and tubes, so that many sheets and tubes are firmly connected together to form sheet and tube bundles.
 
The end face of the plate and tube bundles presents a semi-circular channel plate and tube bundles which are assembled in the shell, and the shell is divided into upper shell and lower shell. The plate and tube bundles are welded and clamped between the upper and lower shells, sealed by a metal winding pad, and an expansion joint is arranged between the tube and tube bundles and the shell to eliminate the longitudinal expansion difference.
 
The section of the equipment is circular and the section of the tube bundle is rectangular. Medium A enters from below, and fluid flows between plates and tubes in the shell. At the same time, it fills the shell and flows out from the upper part. Medium B flows from top to bottom in the shell. Two kinds of media form one-way pure countercurrent operation, which has high heat transfer efficiency.

Shell-and-tube heat exchanger is a structural form between shell-and-tube heat exchanger and plate heat exchanger, which takes into account the advantages of both.
 
1. The heat transfer efficiency is good when the plate is used as the heat transfer surface. The heat transfer coefficient is about twice that of shell and tube heat exchangers.
 
2. Compact structure and small volume.
 
3. Temperature resistance and compression resistance. The maximum working temperature can reach 800 C and the maximum working pressure can reach 6.3 MPa.
 
4. The fluid in the flat runner flows at high speed, and the surface of the plate is smooth, not easy to scale, the bundle can be dismantled, and the cleaning is convenient.
